Choosing the best Portable storage for Laptops

I recently had a very upsetting experience. I’ve had the same laptop for years now; let’s call it sentimental versus lack of money. It’s always been very reliable and I’ve never had to worry about data loss. Until last weekend, when I managed to spill my entire cup of coffee onto it while I was using it. My heart skipped several beats, or so it seemed. All of my data, pictures from my wedding, of my daughter, of my late father… all gone. Or so I thought. Luckily I had all of my data stored onto external hard drives. But I call that luck with sincerity. I know a lot of people who don’t care to back up their data. What if this happened to you? Would you be prepared, or would you lose some of your most precious and fun moments?

Ask anyone who has had the misfortune of losing data, and they will tell you exactly how valuable it is to have a great backup system. Most of them will agree with me about portable hard drives. They are perfect when you want to back up or store files that might otherwise go unused and eat up your laptop’s space.
Those videos your cousin made on his 21st birthday that you laughed at so hard at first, but no longer use.

You don’t have to delete them just to save space. Keep them safe on an external hard drive.
Size really does matter – at least in this department! Thanks to the advances in technology, they’re relatively cheap. Nowadays you can get a 1 TB portable HD for less than two-hundred bucks! However, as impressive as that is, most people won’t ever need that much.

The average user gets an external hard drive of about 160 GB. Some may go as high as 500 GB. Both are great buys, and you can get them pretty cheap. These nifty things usually come as “USB Powered” so you don’t have to deal with many wires. A true convenience in such an inconvenient world.
