Legally Blonde’s Pink Laptop
When Reese Witherspoon appeared in the hit film, Legally Blonde, she’d have had no idea at how big a trend the pink laptop she used during one particular scene was destined to be. The world sat up and took notice and suddenly a star was born!
The pink laptop quickly became a must-have fashion statement that saw computer companies revolutionise their designs to suit the public demand for a similar product. That demand has seen an interesting range of colours arrive on the market as every major laptop producer fights for a share of the profits and although the film was released as far back as 2001, the desire to own a stylish, fashionable coloured item is still as high as ever.
Some of the most notable companies in computer production have got in on the act, including Dell, Sony and Asus. The Asus Eee PC is a lightweight model netbook that comes in 5 different pink shades while Sony have produced the VAIO series that sees an extensive colour range throughout several different styles of laptop.
Dell have produced some stunning shades in their Inspiron range, and most budget laptop manufacturers have flooded the market with their own versions. Apple, who produced the iBook that was used in the film but originally withstood the temptation to release a pink version for public sale, now have an equivalent coloured model added to the Apple Mac range.
The work-efficient nature of laptops now allows for a mobile computing experience coupled with a sleek, stylish look that meets the ever-increasing demands of a public that wants to looks as good when it works as it does when it plays. It all adds up to a tremendous marketing initiative that has seen one small scene from a movie completely change the visual dynamics of laptop computers forever.
